Description

Silcoflex 587 high temperature single component silicone red 300ml - NPT 0006220

High-temperature resistant single-component acetic cross-linking silicone sealant.

It cures at room temperature under the action of atmospheric moisture to provide a permanently flexible elastomer with exceptional adhesion and resistance to high temperatures, maintaining properties up to 250°C (300°C for short periods).

Fields of application

Sealing of joints in furnace and chimney construction.

Suitable for industrial applications, bonding and sealing in boilers, stoves, exhaust boxes, etc.

Can also be used for sealing in the automotive industry (engines, gear boxes).

Features

  • Solvent-free
  • Rapid skin formation and crosslinking.
  • Excellent adhesion to glass and metals
  • Does not drip
  • Excellent resistance to weathering, UV and aging
  • Easy extrusion at low (+5°C) and high (+40°C) temperatures
  • Flexible at low (-40°C) and very high (+250°C) temperatures

Application

For maximum adhesion performance, the surfaces involved must be dry and clean; in particular, degreasing solvents can be used to remove grease or oil.

Adheres to most surfaces (aluminum, including anodized, glass, ceramics). If there are adhesion problems on particular surfaces, the manufacturer should be consulted for the choice of a specific primer.

The product is not over-paintable.

Remove the threaded top from the plastic nozzle, screw on the nozzle and cut it at an angle to the desired bead thickness and profile.

Insert the cartridge into a manual or pneumatic gun (preferably one with a telescoping plunger) and extrude the sealant carefully, avoiding air entrapment.

Once opened, the packages should be used within a relatively short time.

The optimal operating temperature for both substrate and sealant is between 15°C and 25°C.

Smoothing and finishing should be done within the open time (skin formation time) of the sealant.

Since the system is hygro-hardening, allow sufficient exposure to air.

Bonded elements may require additional sealing or support during the curing period.

Silcoflex 587 should not be used for insulating glass assembly and is not recommended for applications in insulating or structural glazing, aquarium sealing, or long-term underwater use.

Not suitable for food contact applications, in which case use S-Sil Food, ANSI 51 certified.

Equipment cleaning and personal protection

Clean the tools used with white spirit.

Once cured, the product can only be removed mechanically.

Avoid contact with skin by using latex, rubber or polyethylene gloves.

If it comes in contact with skin, remove immediately and wash with soap and water.

Product storage

Silcoflex EVOLUTION transparent can be stored for 18 months in the original packaging.

Storage temperature between 10°C and 25°C in a cool, dry room.

Keep away from sources of moisture, heat sources and direct sunlight contact.
