Description

Silcoflex 590 single-component low-modulus sealant - NPT

Single-component low-modulus silicone sealant with neutral cross-linking alcoxy for indoor and outdoor applications.

Silcoflex 590 is a single-component low-modulus silicone sealant with neutral cross-linking.

It cures at room temperature under the action of atmospheric moisture to provide a permanently flexible silicone elastomer.

The product has exceptional workability characteristics, adhesion to various substrates, and allows elastic joints for perimeter finishes, glazing, and building applications in high moisture areas, such as bathroom rooms.

Certified and tested according to:

  • EN 15651 – 1: Class 25 LM F - EXT - INT - CC
  • EN 15651 – 2: Class 25 LM G - CC
  • EN 15651 – 3: Class XS1
  • ISO 11600 – G, class 25 LM
  • ISO 11600 – F, class 25 LM – Façade
  • SNJF Label – Vitrage 25E and Façade 25E
  • EMICODE EC 1 PLUS

Fields of application

Sealing of joints on wood, metal and plastic windows and doors.

Sealing of joints on walls, facades and metal constructions.

Suitable for sealing glass windows.

Suitable for joints in bathroom areas.

Application

For maximum adhesion performance, the surfaces involved must be dry and clean; in particular, degreasing solvents can be used to remove grease or oil.

Adheres to most surfaces (anodized aluminum, glass, ceramics, polyester).

If there are adhesion problems on particular surfaces, the manufacturer should be consulted for the selection of a specific primer.

The product is not over-paintable.

Remove the threaded top from the plastic nozzle, screw on the nozzle and cut it at an angle to the desired bead thickness and profile.

Insert the cartridge into a manual or pneumatic gun (preferably one with a telescoping plunger) and extrude the sealant carefully, avoiding air entrapment.

Once opened, the packages should be used within a relatively short time.

The optimal operating temperature for both substrate and sealant is between 15°C and 25°C.

Smoothing and finishing should be done within the open time (skin formation time) of the sealant.

Since the system is hygro-hardening, allow sufficient exposure to air.

Bonded elements may require additional sealing or support during the curing period.

Silcoflex 590 should not be used for double-glazing assembly and is not recommended for use on marble, natural stone (may cause halos), applications in insulating or structural glazing, for sealing aquariums, or for long-term use underwater.

Not suitable for food contact applications, in which case use S-Sil Food, ANSI 51 certified.

Equipment cleaning and personal protection

Clean the tools used with white spirit.

Once cured, the product can only be removed mechanically.

Avoid skin contact by using latex, rubber or polyethylene gloves.

If it comes in contact with skin, remove immediately and wash with soap and water.

Product storage

Silcoflex 590 can be stored for 12 months in the original packaging.

Storage temperature between 10°C and 25°C in a cool, dry room.

Keep away from sources of moisture, heat sources and direct sunlight contact.
